Costa Rica Beach
Montezuma is an unique bohemian surfing village located in the Nicoya Peninsula. It is a laid back surf town popular among young surfers and artsy beach lovers. The beach itself is somewhat of a rocky inlet which contains graceful rivers that cascade down the jungle and turn into waterfalls. The town has grown to become an endearing home to a multi-cultural group of people who seek an alternative lifestyle, giving it a funky new age character. There are plenty of budget lodgings, vacation rentals and yoga related hotels.
The waterfalls are a must see for any eco tourist or curious traveler. An exhilarating way to see them is on a canopy tour that zips you from one platform to another through the lush jungle. Or you can take a hike and follow the river uphill until reaching the river pool which is the base of the waterfall. The most popular waterfall, Montezuma Waterfall, cascades twenty four meters down into a large pool and is reachable in a twenty minute hike from the center of town.
