Costa Rica Beach
Playa Samara is a quiet, unpretentious beach with brilliant blue water and white sand. It is considered one of the safest beaches in Costa Rica due to an offshore coral reef which keeps the surf at bay. The gentle waves and shallow waters are perfect for swimming and snorkeling, and the wide seven kilometer beach is bordered by palms and other shade trees. The village offers an array of hotels, restaurants and nightlife. A small pink sand island, Isla Chora, sits about two kilometers from shore and is ideal for exploring by kayak or stand up paddle. It is a popular vacation spot for both foreign and Costa Rican tourists.
Cruising Rio Ora
Just a short distance from Playa Samara is Rio Ora. Tour companies offer kayak and stand up paddle trips to this tranquil river. If you are new to SUP, you will be taught basic skills such as kneeling and then standing on the wide, buoyant paddle board. Once you have mastered the basic skills, you will be able to paddle the river to enjoy its beautiful scenery and amazing wildlife such as monkeys, iguanas, and kingfishers. The river ends at the untouched Playa Camaronal.
